Who We Are

White Sands Tax Services is a family-owned tax preparation and bookkeeping firm founded by a mother–son team. We created this practice to give individuals and small businesses a place where they feel heard, supported, and confident about their taxes—whether they meet with us remotely or in person.

After years of working in tax preparation, accounting, and education, we saw how often people felt rushed, confused, or left in the dark about their own finances. We wanted to build something different—a practice where clients could ask questions without feeling judged, understand what’s happening with their return, plan to minimize future tax bills, and know they have someone they can call the next time a tax notice shows up in the mail.

White Sands Tax Services grew out of that idea: a client-education and relationship-focused firm that combines professional expertise with clear communication and down-to-earth guidance.

We keep the process as simple and transparent as possible:

  • We listen first, so we understand your situation and your goals.

  • We explain your options in plain language, without jargon.

  • We use a secure online portal so you can upload documents, sign forms, and communicate with us from anywhere.

  • We stay available year-round for questions—not just during tax season.

Our goal is for you to feel calm and informed, not rushed or in the dark.

Dr. Ethan White

Co-founder

Ethan brings a strong background in business, bookkeeping, finance, and education to White Sands Tax Services. Dr. Ethan White, EdD, MBA has spent years helping students, professionals, and small business leaders understand financial and organizational concepts in clear, practical language, and he brings that same teaching mindset to every client relationship.

Beyond preparing clean, accurate books, Ethan helps clients use their numbers to make better decisions. His approach goes past what many traditional CPA firms offer day-to-day: he looks for inefficiencies in the way a business tracks income and expenses, manages workflows, and uses its financial reports—then helps streamline systems to reduce waste, tighten controls, and improve profitability without needing more sales.

Whether he’s helping a small business clean up its books, building Excel-based tools to track performance and cash flow, or walking someone through their first organized set of records, Ethan focuses on making the numbers make sense. He enjoys breaking down accounting and bookkeeping terms into everyday language so clients feel informed, not intimidated—and he’s especially skilled at turning messy spreadsheets and scattered records into clear, usable financial information, whether clients meet in person or work with him remotely.

Ruth White

Co-founder

Ruth brings decades of real-world tax experience to the table—more than 17 years through White’s Accounting, plus years earlier preparing returns for family and friends and working in two CPA offices. She also has over 18 years of teaching tax and accounting at the college level (including time as a graduate teaching assistant beginning in 2008), and she’s known for her patience, warmth, and ability to explain things in a way that finally makes them “click.”

What truly sets Ruth apart is the range of perspective she brings to every return. Along with her work as an Enrolled Agent (EA), she has Internal Revenue Agent experience—so she understands not only how to prepare an accurate return, but also how the IRS evaluates and audits them. That auditing lens helps her spot red flags, strengthen documentation, and keep clients aligned with the Internal Revenue Code.

At White Sands Tax Services, Ruth works with individuals and a wide variety of small businesses—sole proprietors, partnerships, gig-economy earners, rental property owners, and farmers. She specializes in helping small business clients maximize legitimate deductions and take advantage of the tax code in a compliant, practical way. Whether meeting in person or online, Ruth enjoys walking clients through their situation, answering questions, and helping them understand not just what’s being done, but why—so they leave feeling supported and smarter about their finances.
